Profile grinding - Functions and requirements

Whether for aircraft, industrial production lines or medical equipment – profile grinding mainly requires one thing: precision that can be relied on. Nowadays, the functions and requirements of profile grinding are very complex in view of the enormous range of its uses in the most diverse sectors and industries.

It is hardly surprising that reliability is important here, because in aerospace or medical technology nothing can be left to chance when it comes to the quality of important components. In view of this, the profession deals with extremely low tolerance values and high surface qualities, which reach into the nanometre range. Profile grinding is aimed at machining or treating the surface of a formed component to make it ideally usable in the context of its application.

The different properties of various metals, alloys and coatings require state-of-the-art machines and innovative solutions. In addition, the different workpieces demand highly sensitive machines that can generate appropriately defined finishes in addition to effective machining and high throughput rates. As the world market leader for flat grinding machines, we at LOESER consistently pursue the path of constant innovation.

Our modular machine system rethinks the possibilities of profile grinding and increases the technological versatility to realize customer-specific solutions already in series production. Reduced processing times and the finest surfaces with a variety of grinding media ranging from stainless steel and ceramics to paper tubes make LOESER systems and attachments a complete solution for profile grinding at the highest level.

Potential uses of profile grinding

The
advantages and potentials of our solutions identify profile grinding machines from LOESER as a future-proof technology that is consistent with values such as durability, robustness and sustainability.

Profile Grinding Solution

The promise of high-end technology that can be used variably applies across the various industries in which our grinding systems offer considerable advantages. Precise and low-threshold control thanks to modern operating options not only create time and cost advantages, but also make a significant contribution to the ability of a company or business to act.

The industries and work areas in which technological solutions from LOESER are already being used successfully are not least because of this at the interfaces of future-oriented economic sectors, whose pioneering developments are helping to shape the world of tomorrow.

Centerless cylindrical grinding

Centerless belt grinding systems – with more than a thousand machines delivered, LOESER is number one in this technology worldwide. Through-feed grinding is the first choice when it comes to high throughput and maximum efficiency. Thanks to the modular system, the removal rate and surface properties of the system can be perfectly tailored to your requirements - customer-specific solutions in series.

Because we at LOESER live up to our high standards, with the perfection of our machines and a constant will to optimise, our systems have proven themselves in the production of solar panels, the automotive sector or pneumatics, where they form an indispensable part of the production of precision components.

Depending on the applications in which our profile grinding solutions are used, a combination of different attachments can also be profitably considered in the production of precisely treated components. The modular features of our machines allow and favour creative machining processes of unparalleled quality, from profile grinding with high stock removal rates to noble surfaces with fine-grained abrasives.

Profile grinded workpieces

Loops - between peaks

Cylindrical grinding between centers is always used when the geometry of the workpieces does not allow grinding in one pass. With our systems you achieve exactly the removal rate and surface quality you need.

Thanks to our modular system, we can supply series solutions that are precisely tailored to your application.

Profile grinding: product diversity and innovations

LOESER technology is used both in the food industry, where consistency and
reliability create safe products, and in the manufacture of furniture, which contributes to a better quality of life through atmosphere and elegance. This comparison shows the diversity of use that is possible with LOESER's high-performance profile sanding systems. The bandwidth of our solutions is already evident in the product variety of the machines, which in different versions, with modularly exchangeable attachments, contribute significantly to the success of our company. The path from untreated raw components to the finished ground part with excellent roughness values – be it an engine part, stamped and sintered parts or cylinders – takes place via various intermediate stages with abrasives of specific grit sizes, which are selected in accordance with the material to be machined.

Centerless - stationary - roll grinding

Stationary centerless grinding is an extremely efficient way of cylindrical grinding parts which, due to their properties, cannot be machined between centers or can only be machined with difficulty between centres, but which are not suitable for through-feed grinding due to their geometry. You save a lot of time here, because the clamping process and the positioning of the tailstock or steady rest are no longer necessary.

Efficient grinding technology "made by LOESER". As with all of our systems, you benefit from our modular system. Customized solutions in series.

For coated components, profile grinding before or after coating is also possible. LOESER machines grind materials as workpieces up to a width of 300mm and a length of up to eight metres and thus, in combination with the possible materials and the exchangeable attachments, generate an unparalleled range of applications with just one machine.

In addition to the innovation potential mentioned above, this also creates advantages in the practical application of our systems: multifunctionality leads to lower investment costs and the saving of valuable working space in your own company. We make profile grinding the catalyst for the manufacture of modern high-tech products and help our customers to achieve excellent workpieces.

Superfinish Microfinish

For roughness values Ra 0.002 - Ra 0.06 µm, LOESER offers Superfinish aggregates (as attachment devices) and complete systems.

With up to 3000 vibrations per minute, you can achieve surface textures that are precisely tailored to your application.

Profile grinding - different methods, consistent quality

Profile grinding either prepares parts for further processing with various coating methods or represents a final work step that ideally prepares components for their intended use. The wide range of materials that can be processed by our machines is accompanied by a variety of grinding methods that are covered by our solutions. In addition to profile grinding, we implement technology for cylindrical grinding, deburring, hardening and chrome plating.

Successful references in cooperation with leading companies in their field testify to the consistent quality that is pursued at LOESER in accordance with our principle "Only produce what others cannot do better". Our technology offers you contemporary, practice-oriented solutions – no matter which industry you belong to.
